There are different types of under sink water filter systems designed to hook into the pipes under the sink so that the water flowing through the system is filtered and clean.  The under sink water filters take a little more work to install them since they do have to be hooked into the pipes, but are still very easy to maintain once they are installed.   The under sink water filters often do a better job at filtering out the products that might be in the water than the refrigerator systems do, although they are still not usually as effective as the pitcher types of water filter systems because they tend to have a two step process for filtering the water.

What to Expect From Under Sink Water Filters

One of the down sides to the under sink water filter system is that it takes up space under the kitchen sink.  Another down side is that a person usually has to install the system which increases the cost of it compared to the other systems on the market.  However, the system in some cases will come with installation with the price of the product so that the consumer does not have to pay any more for it to be done.  The systems range in price, but average around one hundred fifty dollars.  There is usually at least one replacement under sink water filter so that the consumer does not have to buy one right away.

The under sink water filters usually come with a faucet that is what dispenses the water that has been purified so that the other tap water can be used for washing the dishes or other purposes.  The great thing about these faucets is that they often will fit perfectly in the sprayer hole of the sink so that another hole does not have to be made to fit the faucet in it.  There are some consumers that may be able to install the under sink water filter without the help of a professional, but they will need to have some of the tools on hand to do so, such as an SW-5 housing wrench. 

Many of these under sink water filter systemswill have some sort of alarm so that when the water filter becomes too dirty it can be replaced.The water filters resists for about six months approximately which is related to the refrigerator water filters that are found on the market today.  The water filters for the under sink system are usually very easy to replace, merely requiring the unlocking of the current filter and snapping the new one in place.
